GROF MOTO 20 - Sevnica in Kočevje
Sevnica and Kočevje
The tour starts at Hotel Grof, then leads through Hrastnik, Radeče, and Sevnica along the Sava River, offering beautiful views and less-trafficked countryside roads. You continue towards Novo mesto, the main city of the Dolenjska region, known for its historic architecture and the Krka River.
The route then turns towards Stari Trg ob Kolpi, one of the most scenic parts of the journey – riding along the Kolpa River is exceptionally beautiful, with many curves and natural vistas. Next comes the ascent to Kočevje, where you’ll notice denser forests and more solitude.
Afterward, the route leads towards Rašica and Škofljica, getting closer to Ljubljana, then north through Domžale, Trojane (stop for the famous doughnuts!), and back to Hotel Grof.
Notice: One short section of the trail between Dobliče and Knežjo Lip runs on macadam - approximately 2 km.
Make a stop
- Sevnica Castle – offers a stunning view over the valley.
- Novo mesto – charming old town center and a river promenade along the Krka.
- Kolpa River – one of Slovenia’s cleanest rivers, a true natural gem.
- Kočevski Rog – a historically and ecologically significant forest area.
Tips:
- The section from Novo mesto to Stari Trg ob Kolpi is very scenic but also quite narrow and winding. Drivers often don’t expect motorcyclists, and the roads can be overgrown in places with uneven asphalt.
- On the Kočevje – Rašica route, ride carefully, as it's a forested area with a higher chance of encountering wildlife (deer, foxes, etc.).
- Some areas (especially near Kolpa and Kočevje) have poor mobile signal, so make sure to bring a map or an offline GPS version of the route.
