Austria and Jezersko

This motorcycle tour offers an exceptional combination of natural beauty, winding Alpine roads, cultural landmarks, and breathtaking views. The route starts eastward through Vransko, where you can make a quick stop at the Slovenian Firefighting Museum. It continues toward Kamnik, one of the most beautiful medieval towns in Slovenia. A stroll through the old town center or a coffee by the Kamniška Bistrica River is highly recommended. The road to Kranj offers stunning views of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps. In Kranj, you can stop at the viewpoint above the Kokra River canyon and visit the old town or the Prešeren House. From Kranj, continue to Tržič, a charming town with a rich craft tradition – also home to the Slovenian Skiing Museum.

Next comes the climb to Ljubelj (Loibl Pass) – one of the oldest mountain roads in Europe. A stop at the former border crossing is a must, where you can visit the memorial park and remains of a Nazi labor camp, for those interested in history.

Descending into Austria, you’ll arrive in Ferlach, a town famous for gunsmithing and picturesque rural landscapes. From there, head south to Bad Eisenkappel, a scenic village surrounded by mountains.

Then comes the spectacular crossing over the Pavlič Pass (1339 m) – one of the most stunning and adrenaline-filled Alpine passes for motorcyclists in the region. The descent into the valley leads you into Solčavsko, one of Slovenia’s most pristine natural areas. A recommended stop is the Rinka Centre, where you can get information on the Solčava Panoramic Road and other local attractions.

The ride continues through the idyllic Savinja Valley, passing Ljubno, known for ski jumping, and Mozirje, where you can visit Mozirski Gaj – a flower park especially beautiful in spring and summer. The final stretch takes you back to Hotel Grof, where you can relax in the wellness area or enjoy a dinner with local specialties.

Make a stop:

  • Kamnik: Old town, Mali Grad, Franciscan Monastery

  • Pavlič Pass: One of the most photogenic mountain passes

  • Solčava: Solčava Panoramic Road, Logar Valley (optional extension)

  • Mozirski Gaj

Tips:

  • Take your time for stops – especially at the mountain passes and in Solčava.
  • Weather in the mountains can change rapidly – keep an eye on the forecast and bring waterproof gear.
