GROF MOTO 24 - Gorenjska–Primorska–Dolenjska
Gorenjska–Primorska–Dolenjska Loop
400+ km of curves, scenic views, and authentic regional experiences.
This stunning circular motorcycle tour takes you through Slovenia’s diverse landscapes – from the alpine foothills of the Savinja Valley, through medieval towns and rolling pre-Alpine hills, across the karstic Vipava Valley, to the lush forests of Notranjska and Kočevska. The tour begins in Vransko, at Hotel Grof, a well-known biker-friendly starting point. After a warm-up ride through the Tuhinj Valley, you reach Kamnik, a charming medieval town – perfect for a coffee and a view of the Kamnik–Savinja Alps.
The route continues past Smlednik and Medvode, where the scenery begins to reflect the character of Gorenjska. Škofja Loka follows – one of Slovenia’s most beautiful historic towns. From there, the road climbs toward Cerkno, a technically demanding section with rewarding views. A short detour leads to the Franja Partisan Hospital, hidden deep in a gorge. Then it's on to Idrija, known for its mining heritage and local cuisine (don’t miss the traditional žlikrofi). From here, twisty roads take you down to Ajdovščina and Vipava, where the karst landscape fully opens up.
The ride turns inland through Senožeče, into the remote heart of Notranjska, past Ilirska Bistrica, Babno Polje, and over Bloška Polica to Ribnica, a town known for its wooden crafts. In the final part of the tour, you pass Kočevje and its vast, mysterious forests, before heading through Žužemberk, Trebnje, Mokronog, and Sevnica, finally completing the loop back at Hotel Grof in Vransko.
