Istria and Primorska
We begin the tour at Hotel Grof and head first over Trojane, where we treat ourselves to the famous donuts. We continue through Izlake, Spodnji Hotič, and Litija, enjoying winding roads and the dynamic landscape of the Zasavje region. The route takes us over Ivančna Gorica towards Lake Bloke, a peaceful spot perfect for a short break by the water.
We cross into Croatia at Čabar and ride through the forested Gorski Kotar to Crni Lug, the entrance to Risnjak National Park. From there, the road leads us past Delnice and Fužine, with a scenic descent to Rijeka – Croatia's second-largest city, known for its port atmosphere, vibrant seaside character, and industrial architecture.
Next, we ride along the coast to Opatija, a charming seaside town famous for its historic villas, the long Lungomare promenade, and the elegance of a former spa destination. It's a great place for a relaxing coffee or lunch with a sea view. From there, we head inland into Istria via Plomin, entering a landscape of rolling hills, vineyards, and medieval towns. Motovun and Buzet are the highlights – renowned for truffles, wine, and panoramic views that invite photography. To end the tour, we return to Slovenia via Kozina and Postojna, rejoining more familiar roads and completing the loop back over Trojane to Hotel Grof.
