Soriška Planina, Bled and Pavličevo Saddle

Get ready for a dynamic circular motorcycle tour that takes you through historic towns, scenic mountain passes and Alpine valleys — a perfect combination for those who love riding and breathtaking views. The tour starts at Hotel Grof, from where you ride towards Kamnik, one of the most charming historic towns beneath the Kamnik–Savinja Alps. The route continues through Kranj, a lively Gorenjska regional center, and then on to Škofja Loka, whose medieval old town is a true feast for the eyes. From here, the road climbs through Železniki towards Zgornja Sorica and up to Soriška Planina. This stretch offers an exceptional ride on a winding, asphalted mountain road that climbs to a pass at around 1,300 meters above sea level. The views of the Julian Alps and Mount Triglav are stunning, and the road is a favorite among motorcyclists.

After descending, you join the panoramic road towards Bled, one of Slovenia’s most picturesque destinations. Riding along Lake Bled with its island and church makes for a perfect scenic stop. From Bled, continue to nearby Radovljica, where history and gastronomy blend charmingly in the old town. The route then heads north through the valley towards Zgornje Jezersko, with beautiful views and winding serpentines leading up to Pavličevo Saddle, a mountain pass on the border with Austria. The road is narrow and twisty, but the views of the Kamnik–Savinja Alps are unforgettable. After crossing the pass, you descend towards Solčava, from where you can take an optional detour into Logar Valley — one of Europe’s most beautiful glacial valleys — and return on the same road. The ride then continues through Luče and Mozirje, where the road flattens out and brings you back to Hotel Grof, marking the end of the tour.

Make a stop:

  • Kamnik – historic town center with Alpine views
  • Škofja Loka – beautifully preserved medieval town
  • Soriška Planina – scenic viewpoint and excellent biker’s road
  • Bled – lake, island and the famous cream cake
  • Radovljica – charming town with great local cuisine
  • Pavličevo Saddle – panoramic mountain pass
  • Logar Valley (optional detour) – alpine valley with dramatic cliffs and waterfalls

Travel Tips:

  • The road over Soriška Planina is paved, winding and narrow — moderate speed and caution are advised, especially during the season.
  • Pavličevo Saddle is also a mountain pass with narrow roads and sharp hairpins — be careful, particularly in wet conditions.
  • The road into Logar Valley is a dead end, so you return the same way.
  • Bled and Radovljica can get crowded in peak season; an early start or off-peak visit is recommended.
  • This route combines urban, regional and mountain roads — perfect for a full-day motorcycle adventure.

A map of motorcycling routes is available at the reception of Hotel Grof, where you can also download selected GPX to your navigation device.
