Next, we ride towards Jesenice and onward to Kranjska Gora, where stunning alpine views await. The road then begins to climb towards Vršič, the highest mountain pass in Slovenia, where the serpentine curves offer a true motorcycle experience, and the views of the Julian Alps are breathtaking. After descending into the Soča River valley, we arrive in Bovec, where you can stop and enjoy the mountain atmosphere. We continue towards Kobarid, famous for its rich history and excellent cuisine, and then to Tolmin, where you can stop by the confluence of the Soča and Tolminka rivers. The ride continues along winding roads to Idrija, a town known for its lace-making and mining heritage, and then on to Logatec and Vrhnika, bringing us closer to central Slovenia.

Entering Ljubljana offers a chance for a short stop by the Ljubljanica River, and then we continue towards Domžale and Troje, where you can enjoy the famous local doughnuts. The final part of the journey takes us back to Hotel Grof, where the tour concludes with fond memories of a wonderful day on the road.

Tips:

  • Start early in the morning to avoid traffic and have plenty of time for stops.
  • Be cautious of sharp turns and possible cyclists on the road, especially at Vršič.
  • Take a break in the Soča Valley for lunch – we recommend local specialties like Soča trout or Bovčan cheese.
  • The roads in Tolmin and Idrija are narrow and winding – extra caution is advised.
  • Check the weather forecast before the tour, as conditions can change rapidly in the mountains.
  • Don't forget to wear comfortable motorcycling gear and wind protection, especially at higher altitudes.

A map of motorcycling routes is available at the reception of Hotel Grof, where you can also download selected GPX to your navigation device.
