
MC16 - Austrian Carinthia

This stunning circular route takes you through the picturesque landscapes of Slovenia and Austria, combining winding mountain roads, vineyard hills, and river valleys.
Along the way, there are plenty of opportunities to stop and enjoy the views. The tour begins at Hotel Grof, heading towards Šmartno ob Paki and continuing to Črna na Koroškem, one of Slovenia’s most famous motorcycling destinations. After crossing the Austrian border, we arrive in Bleiburg (Pliberk), a charming Austrian town with a touch of Slovenian history. The route then leads to Lavamünd, where scenic roads follow the Drava River. We head south towards Leutschach an der Weinstraße, one of Austria's most renowned wine regions.
The winding roads between the vineyards offer breathtaking views. The journey continues through Eckberg and Fluttendorf, perfect spots for a short break. Crossing the border at Gornja Radgona, we ride towards Ptuj, Slovenia’s oldest town and a great place for lunch or sightseeing. The tour then continues through Slovenske Konjice, passing through the scenic valleys of Styria before returning to Hotel Grof.

On the route towards Črna na Koroškem, expect narrow and winding roads, especially through hilly areas with limited visibility.
The section between Lavamünd and Leutschach is picturesque but requires extra caution in the bends and attention to agricultural machinery, especially during the fieldwork season.
The stretch from Lavamünd to Leutschach runs along the Drava River and passes through one of Austria's most renowned wine regions, offering plenty of opportunities for photo stops and wine tastings.
