MC17 - Areh and Žička Kartuzija

This motorcycle tour offers an incredible variety of landscapes, from the vineyard-covered hills and rural roads of Styria to the winding mountain sections of Pohorje. This tour is suitable for riders with some experience, as it includes a combination of faster open roads and technically more demanding turns, especially on the ascent to Areh and around Vitanje.

We begin the journey at Hotel Grof, heading towards Žalec, known for its hop farming and famous beer fountain. We continue through Galicija and Vojnik, with beautiful views of the countryside. Next, we ride through Socka and Vitanje, where the road becomes more dynamic, with pleasant twists and turns that are a real treat for motorcyclists. From Slovenske Konjice, we head towards Slovenska Bistrica and Zgornja Polskava, where we begin the ascent to Areh, one of the popular starting points for Pohorje. The road narrows here, becoming more winding, adding extra adrenaline, and offering beautiful views of the Pohorje landscape. We descend towards Fram, where the road opens up again, and continue to Spodnja Polskava and Poljčane.

One of the highlights of the tour is a stop at Žička Kartuzija, a medieval Carthusian monastery, where you can enjoy the unique peace and rich history of the place. The route then leads us through Dramlje and Proseniško, where we return to wider regional roads, allowing for a more relaxed ride towards Celje, a city with rich history and the majestic Celje Castle. The final part of the route takes us back to Žalec and finally back to the starting point at Hotel Grof.
